Laurel County Sheriff John Root reports Deputy Joe Breeding and Deputy Skyler McFarland were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call at home off Pine Top Road. Laurel 911 dispatchers advised deputies that they could hear an argument between a man and woman on an open line. While enroute to the scene deputies were advised that the woman called back saying her boyfriend had pulled a handgun on her and her 19-year-old son and threatened to kill them. The 19-year-old had fled to a nearby home. Deputies arrived to find the woman who had visible injuries. Deputies learned that allegedly 33-year-old Nicholas Hubbard pointed a gun at her and punched and choke her. Deputies were able to locate the pistol allegedly involved in the incident. Hubbard was arrested and charged with assault, wanton endangerment, strangulation, interfering with communications, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
