The London Police Department says a Walmart associate was recognized for stopping a multi-state theft ring. Jacob Benge, who is a coach for the store’s asset protection operations, said he received word that a team of cash scammers were traveling up the interstate and hitting multiple Walmart stores. Benge said the Walmart stores in Corbin and Williamsburg had been potential targets and that the London Walmart was possibly next as well. Benge said they were not successful in stealing anything from the London store but their goal was to go after potentially thousands of dollars. London Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) worked on the case. The identities of those charged have not been released. Federal authorities said the crew is originally from Europe.
