Joint Laurel and Knox County Investigation Leads to First-Of-Its-Kind Drug Lab Seizure

A joint investigation led to a first-of-its-kind drug lab seizure in Laurel County. A Knox County Burglary investigation led a search warrant in Laurel County. Knox and Laurel deputies executed a search warrant at a home on Old Way Road where stolen guns from the burglary were found. They also seized meth, morphine tablets, a meth lab and a DMT lab. Police say they believe this is the first DMT lab seized in either county. There were several large containers of suspected DMT seized during the search. DMT is a Schedule I hallucinogen. 48-year-old Robert Wayne Simons was arrested on charges of trafficking in controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. An arrest warrant was also issued for Simons’ son, Doug Simons, who at last report, had not been found.
