Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says deputies rescued a woman from the bitter cold. The department received a call about a stuck car in a rural area off of Owens Hollow Road in Gray. While searching the area, deputies found the car on a private driveway. Deputies said the driver appeared to be confused, disoriented and having a medical issue. The woman reportedly told deputies she was stuck in that location since the previous evening and did not have a cell phone. She said she was running the car’s engine to stay warm. Because of road conditions, deputies had to take the woman approximately 1/4 mile to EMS personnel. She was then taken to Barbourville ARH for treatment.
