Knox County Woman Arrested on Auto Theft Charges After Police Chase

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says Deputy Lt. Sam Mullins spotted a reported stolen vehicle on Highway 11 and attempted to pull it over. The driver, later identified as 39-year-old Shanna Williams, of Barbourville, failed to stop and nearly hit an oncoming vehicle. Williams turned onto Tye Bend Road and continued on until the road dead ended at a house. She went through the yard causing extensive damage and attempted to turn back onto the road before she was stopped. Williams was arrested and charged with auto theft, first degree evading police, first degree criminal mischief and four counts of first degree wanton endangerment. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
