Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force Raids Result in Huge Drug Busts

Laurel County Sheriff John Root, London Police Chief Chuck Johnson, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and Rockcastle County Sheriff Shannon Franklin are reporting a joint investigation, as part of the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration, resulted in the dismantling of a large-scale drug trafficking organization spanning several states that was supplying large amounts of crystal methamphetamine to Laurel and Clay Counties. Police say a search warrant was executed at the home of 58-year-old Vernon Delph on Greg Lane in London. Detectives seized more than 11 lbs. of meth, 8 lbs. of marijuana and 23 firearms. They also seized more than $15,000 in cash and several vehicles as part of the investigation. Another operation resulted in the seizure of an additional 9 lbs. of meth in London. Officers say the continued investigation led to the supply source and the arrests of 30-year-old Jay Boykin of Georgia and 46-year-old Caronda Tilman of Tennessee. Sheriff Root says the investigation is ongoing and they anticipate more indictments and arrests.
