Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London Police Chief Chuck Johnson report members of the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force arrested 3 people in a stolen vehicle with drugs and guns. Officers were on routine patrol on HWY 490, when they noticed a reported stolen Kia Soul in the parking lot of a business. The driver, 32-year-old Mark Anthony Gavin, of East Bernstadt, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle registration plate, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and drug trafficking. Two passengers, 34-year-old Timothy Hampton and 31-year-old Kayla Philpot, both of London, were arrested and charged with drug possession. Officers recovered in excess of 2 ounces of methamphetamine, along with 2 firearms and cash. All three were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
