During their weekly update on Kool Gold’s London News Now, the Laurel County Health Department reported that respiratory illnesses, including COVID 19, RSV and influenza are back on the rise. Public Services Supervisor, Tyler Caldwell, said from February 19th to February 23rd there were 54 new COVID 19 cases and 2 new hospitalizations. Caldwell said flu numbers are also back up and increasing. Caldwell said other than staying up to date on vaccinations, it’s important to practice preventive measures like washing your hands, covering your coughs and sneezes and staying home when you’re sick.
