Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says deputies were called out to a reported shooting on Higgins Hollow Road in the Bimble community. Knox County EMS also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Detective Jesse Smith said a man was trying to break into a home when he was shot by someone from inside the home. The man received non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. His identity was not initially reported. The investigation is ongoing.
