A Whitley County man was sentenced to 63 months in prison for retaliation against a federal agent. Back in 2019, Daniel Nantz was indicted on murder with the intent to obstruct justice related to his drug trafficking. Later, William Nantz, Daniel’s father, made threats against the lead agent investigating Daniel’s murder case. William Nantz pleaded guilty to retaliation against a witness for his initial threat and was sentenced to 70 months in prison. On another occasion Nantz again threatened the agent during a recorded video jail call. This time, he threatened to sexually assault and murder the agent. William Nantz’s prison term for his second threat will run consecutively with his previous sentence of 70 months for the first threat. Under federal law, he must serve 85 percent of his prison sentences.
